Giovanni Rosso

The winery

The wine should be a perfect copy of its terroir”. The Rosso family has been making wine with this aim in mind for over 100 years. The Nebbiolo grapes for the wines come almost exclusively from some of the best ‘Grand Cru’ sites in Piedmont, such as Vigna Rionda, Ceretta, Serra and Broglio.

The work in the vineyard is largely organic and respects the individual characteristics of the sites, so that their subtleties can be brought out perfectly. No chemical treatments are used, the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and the soil and plants are tended manually.

The Rosso family’s wines are not only distinguished by their taste, which reflects the uniqueness of the Serralunga region. Perfect vineyard work, optimal physiological ripeness of the grapes and detail-oriented work in the wine cellar produce incredibly fine and elegant Barolo wines full of sophistication. The tannins typical of a Barolo from Serralunga are so gently incorporated that the wines are often reminiscent of great Burgundies from Musigny.
