In 1967, Canalicchio di Sopra was one of the twelve founding wineries of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino and has been one of the best and most consistent producers of great Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino wines for many years.

The vineyard of owner and winemaker Francesco Ripaccioli is located in the climatically privileged area north-east of beautiful Montalcino. The best grapes from the Sangiovese Grosso clone grow here on 19 hectares, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. Among other things, 6 hectares of the prestigious Montosoli vineyard belong to the estate.
